1st Christmas

Time for a Christmas photo montage:

Madeline with Grandma Pavlock

Madeline with her Auntie Jess(who stopped by Christmas Eve Morning to spoil the peanut)

Bear Hugs (although I have no clue where we’ll put it)

Madeline’s Christmas jammies( I got some for Chris and I too, but ours aren’t as festive as Miss Madeline’s)

Our family Christmas morning

Madeline loved her first Christmas.  Chris and I might have loved it even more.  Madeline was a trooper for three days of festivities.  Day 1 – Crestwood, IL to see my dad’s side of the family.  We were so happy to make it because originally I though I’d have to work since it was a Friday, but I got a half day.  Yay!  Madeline was a prefect little lady, zero meltdowns.  Day 2 we were at the in-laws for Chris’ birthday as well as Christmas Eve.  I know Chris has to share his celebration with everyone, but he gets a way better spread than most get for their birthday each year.  Madeline made out like a little bandit at their house.  Lots of toys.  The winner of the night – a giant teddy bear from the grandparents that she still loves to tackle.  Day 3 was gifts at home with Madeline by the tree.  We gave her an Olivia Jack-in-a-box or should I say pig-in-a-box and an interactive toy.  Breakfast at my brother’s (his first time ever hosting anything and he and his Girlfriend Justine did a great job!).  Then we were off to church, back to open Madeline’s second loot of presents from my family, and off to my cousin’s for dinner with my mother’s side of the family.

We felt very loved with all the generosity towards Madeline for her first Christmas.  I know they say that before age two kids don’t really get much out of the holiday, but Madeline was a very happy baby and enjoyed every minute.  Even with a wacky sleep schedule she was still a good little lady.

I’m always a bit bummed when Christmas day is over, but I’ve begun mentally preparing for Madeline’s first birthday party and that seems even more exciting than Christmas!  Madeline is nine months now and soon she’ll be twelve months.  This year has been the best year so far!

A Merry Little Christmas

Our household has been cranking out gingerbread boys and girls among many other types of cookies this holiday season.  Somehow I’m able to bake, juggle Madeline and watch a lot of holiday movies.  Saturday debate tournaments for Chris have been a major reason I’ve had so much time with our little one.  Today I had the chance to finish Meet Me In St. Louis.  Judy Garland is one of my all time favorite actresses.  I love her voice, and I think my singing style is similar to hers… so if I could get in a time machine and go back to the 40′s maybe I would have had the chance to be in the singing movies with her.  Chris and I watch Home Alone this weekend, and I watching the Holiday and the Family Stone last weekend.  Plus we watched Elf as we put up the tree.  That leaves White Christmas, Muppets Christmas Carol, and Love Actually to complete my holiday movie watch list.

Madeline has started experiencing new solids: crackers, bagels, sweet potato puffs!  I know I sound really lame getting excited over air crisps, but she’s growing so fast!  She pulls up on everything now too.  The coffee table is more exciting for her than her toys- I like the coffee table too, it’s fab.  She loves to flip the pages in books which makes me feel like a proud mommy.  I don’t think we’d complain if she became a bookworm.  The one area that Madeline really excels in so far is growing teeth!  She’s working on her second front tooth.  That’ll be two front teeth for Christmas for a total of five teeth!

From our house to yours, Happy Holidays!
